Have a question? Just ask, if it comes up often we'll put the answer here.
How do i take care of mealworms?
Mealworms live a very long time in cold storage. We suggest customers keep them in the original packaging and inside the included paper bag. Put them in the warmest part of the refrigerator. Every 2 weeks take them out for a few hours and give them a very thin slice of apple so they can drink. then put them back into the refrigerator

Why do you only sell your frass fertilizer on Amazon?
We are currently constrained by the size of our team. Maybe some day we'll be on retail shelves, but as of now Amazon allows us to get our product out quicker and farther. But for those that feel strongly about Amazon and would still like to purchase our product, just ask. Contact us through Facebook, Instagram, or email us at fourthwindfeeders@gmail.com.
How do i take care of dubia roaches?
Dubia roaches need to stay at a comfortable room temperature. Do not refrigerate. Keep them in their original container and included paper bag. Place them some place warm. These roaches like temps in the 90's f but will do just fine in the 60's f. Our roaches come packed with enough food for 1 month.
If I buy your frass fertilizer will it have bugs in it?
No, we take extra precautions to ensure that all you get with our product is just frass. Our frass is derived from mealworms which are a larva and not sexually reproductive.
Our frass is sifted twice, then aged for one month in airtight containers. In the event any insects made it through this initial processing, we sift it a final time to ensure you will receive a clean product. In all, each bag of frass is sifted three times before it leaves the farm.
How often should i feed my plants frass tea?
This depends on the plant. For heavy feeding annuals like tomatoes and peppers, once a week is great. For indoor plants feed about once a month, tough sometimes less depending on the plant and time of year. The trick is to know your plants. Rest assured it is highly unlikely to harm your plant by using frass tea, unless it is a very rare specialty plant, like a venus fly trap.
Do you use cleaner bugs in your farm?
No. Although this is a common practice in insect farming, we do not practice these techniques. It is thought that the co-mingling of insects with different diets helps to eliminate dead insects and debris. In our experience this leads to an impure product and can ultimately be a nuisance for the buyer, as some of these cleaner insects have been known to fly or reproduce quickly. Rest assured that when you purchase mealworms from us, what you buy is what you get, no surprises.
